So Top Gear is coming to the US. Ignoring that Top Gear has already come to the US. And then left after people threw stones at them and tried to kill them.
Er, actually, the UK version of Top Gear is currently shown on BBC America at 8PM Eastern on Mondays. In the past the Discovery Channel has shown episodes.
If you haven't watched Top Gear on BBC America before, then you're missing out on what's easily the funniest show on cable.
In any case, NBC is going to be making a US version of Top Gear. (Hm, US version of a BBC show, this sounds familiar some how. And it's always turned out so well before... sigh.)
So already it's not sounding so great. How much worse can it get?
They've announced the US presenters: Adam Carolla, Tanner Foust, and Eric Stromer.
Apparently no one at NBC never watched Too Late with Adam Carolla, which isn't surprising, since no one else watched it either. It was so successful that they replaced it with a repeat of last night's The Daily Show. Last night's because it was on after that night's The Daily Show.
Then there's Tanner Foust. Who the hell is Tanner Foust? He's a stunt driver. OK, I guess that makes sense.
So how about Eric Stromer? Well, according to Wikipedia, he's a host on the upcoming US Top Gear. And, uh, that's it. Wonderful.
No news on whether the US version will have Big Stig or if they'll be placing Stars in a Reasonably Priced Car. But there will be a "featured 'after market' accessory of the week." Really!
Oh well.
Note that NBC has only confirmed there will be a pilot, not that this will ever actually see the light of day.
There's still BBC America, and if it comes to it, BitTorrent...
