So I'm playing FFIV DS, which is a remake of the original FFIV. It keeps pretty much the same features. The same damage levels, the same characters, the same abilities.
They increased the HP for the Demon Wall boss from 28,000 to 99,999. (According to online FAQs.) This is a timed fight.
That's more than 3 times more HP. (3.57 times more to be exact.)
Apparently making the game fucking possible is beyond their ability. Who the hell came up with this? If you're going to increase the HP of a timed boss battle you need to also increase the damage characters can do to match. They didn't.
They didn't bother rebalancing a damned thing. So now I have one option: restart from the beginning of the game, this time making sure to use every single optional "augment" they've added, or this battle is literally impossible. It's a literal wall in the middle of the game, with no sign it's coming: I had no problem getting to this point.
FFIV was already a relatively difficult game, but that wasn't enough. They had to bump the difficulty level even higher to the point that it's simply ridiculous.
Square-Enix's new policy appears to be that being allowed to have fun while playing their games is overrated. I can only imagine that all the reviewers giving this game ridiculously good reviews never actually bothered to finish playing it.
